I’ve found a “new” song I like. It’s the theme to the Reebok commercial “Join the Migration.” The singer’s voice is gorgeous, and the song has this alluring, haunting quality. I like it so much I’m almost ready to buy one of their t-shirts. It begins with men looking slowly skyward and includes bird imagery; I like that the men assemble in V formations yet they don’t beat you over the head with the metaphor by showing migrating geese.

We didn’t play as much this weekend as we had hoped. Things took longer than expected, and the gremlins, pixies and leprechauns were acting up again, apparently partying far heartier than we were. They might have had a ways to go to keep up with us back in the day, but this weekend they were way ahead.

The BBC coverage of French President Sarkozy’s visit to the US this week was highly entertaining. They even ended one segment with BBC correspondent Kathy Kay visiting Winston Churchill’s statue in a park in DC and asking forlornly “whatever happened to our special relationship?”

I was channel surfing for playoff baseball last night (which now flips around from network to network like William Shatner seeking cameras and microphones), looking for the Red Sox/Indians game, when I happened on the hunting and fishing channel.

I turned on the Giants game last night and was amused, mildly surprised, and bemused by the thunderous boos Barry Bonds received at Dodger stadium. I heard later that it got vicious in parts of the stands, with at least one fight breaking out.

Which surprised me a bit because the Dodgers fans I’ve known have always made such a point of how laidback they are, as if the root word of fan were not fanatic.
