Sure, we all complain about commercials. I channel surf away and still can’t escape them — this evening while I fiddled around online a rum commercial came on in the background that made me turn the TV off.
But not because I disliked it. Rather, I heard it through for the background music, Iggy Pop’s The Passenger, which made me want to hear that song again.
Ain’t the internet grand? So I googled it, and found this lovely little Hollywood video, for fans of pop culture both celluloid and vinyl. Most of these film clips are a kick. I bet you’ll recognize a lot of them, and even what’s happening in the movie, which can provide a little subtext. Oh the glamour! The debauchery! And that’s just the William Powell bit. I love all the romantic backseat of the car clips, too. (I’m not sure why the editor put in the bloody stuff from the Wild Bunch.) If you’re in the mood for a pleasant earworm, check this out:
When I was twenty-something, I always thought when I got older I’d get into jazz or something. It never quite happened. I’ve just got a rock’n’roll heart.
Does every generation feel their predecessors were more adult? And perhaps that the kids behind them are entirely too juvenile?
Yep, I agree with your last statement. I enjoyed this video SO much and could identify most movies. Great stuff.
I agree with your last statement too. Fun video. 🙂
