Sports Break!

Life, in the form of work and household obligations, has reared its hydra-headed distractions once again. Where was I? Oh, yes, matching confused wits with a GPS south of the twin cities, enroute to my one-time employer and to have lunch with an old pal who’s worked there for many years.

Global positioning in my old backyard

On one of my wife’s recent trips she got a GPS system for her rental car, and liked it. Knowing my cynical approach to boastful advertising claims masking the technical difficulties often unpleasantly lurking in new contraptions, she said, “but you’d probably hate it.”

I actually had mulled trying GPS systems to some degree, and have friends who like theirs so, not wishing to be boxed in and labeled, I said, “I’d try one.”

And I didn’t give it another thought.
