It was a difficult decision to make. Harder maybe for me, then for my gardener wife, who understand these things.

One of the unexpected pleasures of this trip to Minnesota was connecting with people I hadn’t seen for years. While that connecting was a catalyst for the trip, it also involved a friend I’ll never see again. (more…)
Global positioning in my old backyard

On one of my wife’s recent trips she got a GPS system for her rental car, and liked it. Knowing my cynical approach to boastful advertising claims masking the technical difficulties often unpleasantly lurking in new contraptions, she said, “but you’d probably hate it.”
I actually had mulled trying GPS systems to some degree, and have friends who like theirs so, not wishing to be boxed in and labeled, I said, “I’d try one.”
And I didn’t give it another thought.
