I’ve had an idea in the back of my head for a while, and want to add another “page” or “tab” like the ones at the top of this page (“Home” and “About OmbudsBen”). It seems to me that when I started this blog there was a way to add more tabs like that, but I’ll be damned if I can find how to do it now.
Does anyone know how to add more tabs like that? I’ve looked through all the items on the left column in the admin site, and I’m not finding it.
Go to your dashboard and click on Pages. That should drop down a menu that includes “add new.” Click on “add new” and you’re off…
I’m glad that Robin was able to answer that one because my response is basically a mystified shrug…
I was just getting ready to say the same thing Robin did. Do I get points for trying?
You all get more points than I do; I can’t really explain my blindness. I really did go to the admin page and look around, but the darn thing was hiding in plain sight. *Face reddens as shoulders shrug*
No reason to be embarrassed about it. 🙂 I’ve asked about similar stuff when it comes to WordPress and blogging. Often the answer is right there, staring me in the face. It’s perfectly obvious after someone points it out to.
That should be “points it out to me.” I was momentarily distracted and I don’t multitask well.
Not only that, as much as I love WordPress, it can be like looking for Waldo to do a chore you haven’t done in a while either because it is circuitous (to my simple mind) or they change things so often–not that there’s anything wrong with that. Those guys are working all the time to make this the best blog site. Just wish I were as smart as they are when I try to tackle something. 🙂
I agree about how often stuff changes on WordPress. The first time I used to everything made sense, and in the changes they’ve made since then I have a hard time finding stuff.
I just can’t believe I didn’t see”Pages” there — I actually opened it up to look down the list and write to you, Robin, reciting the list to show you what my dashboard said and how it wasn’t there. And there it was!
I think I’m just change averse. Once I find Waldo, I want to know he’s there, waiting for me. *smile*
So, where’s the new page?
Hey David, good to see your name again.
Re “Pages,” I know. You’re right. The initial “juice” for an idea got lost in my inexplicable inability to see the pages option.
But the notion is there. All I need do is execute–once the muse returns.
One good thing about getting your work between covers, Ben, is that when the muse takes a vacation, your readers can still enjoy what you’ve done. My wife and I are both enjoying another look at “After Hell Hit Paradise.” Highly recommended for all your fans!
I give up. How do I find “After Hell Hit Paradise?”
I can help with that, anhinga (unless Ben has a better link).

David–bless you for the kind words. And for the link!
Anhinga, if you have any further questions, let me know. We’re about to leave on vacation for a week, but I’ll get back to you when I can.
Aha! Thanks to you both, David and Ben. I see we are not talking about a blog post, but a book. I will be ordering it soon. Thanks a lot.
i myself have wanted to add tabs beside the given “HOME” and or main blog one. i add a new page and published it but still it did not show up as a new tab or a tab in general at all.
what do i need to do in order to have one or more tabs like the about ombudsben one above?? please help i want tabs…
Maybe it depends on the type of template you have. It works on mine (Misty Morn, I think). Otherwise, not sure.
you were right on point, my template did not allow pages as tabs so i changed it. thank a bunch.
Anhinga, thanks from me, too, for jumping in here. When I finally get around to adding the new pages, I’ll know to check the template–this is exactly the kind of goof I might have made.
