If the world were to begin shaking and tumbling and the streets of the Financial District filled with shards of broken glass falling from the office highrises, I would take some comfort, were I to survive and be trapped high in a building, in knowing there was a first aid kit with high-quality anesthetic near me.

We didn’t play as much this weekend as we had hoped. Things took longer than expected, and the gremlins, pixies and leprechauns were acting up again, apparently partying far heartier than we were. They might have had a ways to go to keep up with us back in the day, but this weekend they were way ahead.

I’ve gloomed with a few of you about winter – pamplemousse, you in particular struck the chord last December, and a few of us have since mused darkly about the cold oppressions of the light-deprived end of the calendar year. On my morning dogwalks I’ve found acacias in bloom out by the boat ramp, so I give you this photo as proof spring is creeping northward and on its way:
